Rei Qi's first lesson

Today, mummy brought Rei Qi for her first official lesson. It's a simple music and fun class at a neighbour's house. The neighbour is Elena and she is a music teacher. For this class, mummy actually bought a violin for Rei Qi.

We had guided drawing, singing, rhythm and violin activities. Rei Qi would engage for 5 seconds at the start of each activity, then she'd walk around and mess with Alexander's (Elena's toddler son) toys. She also chattered all through her 'messing around' In other words, Rei Qi totally disrupted the class. I guess it's understandable that Lucas's (her 2.5 yr old classmate) mother was not happy at all.

In fact, she made it a point to say that Lucas focused much better the previous lesson when there were no other kids around. So she requested to have individual lessons with Elena henceforth. Sigh...

For mummy it's totally ok cos all she wanted was for Rei Qi to interact with other kids without stress of performance. So for now, Rei Qi will have some slight structure to some of her play at home and when she can sit and draw when she's asked to, we'll bring her back to the class.
