Rei Qi is running a fever

Rei Qi is down with a fever. We have been lucky. Other than a couple of vaccine-induced fever, little RQ has not fallen ill before. So, her first episode inevitably causes some concern for both the Cheeky Parents. Let's hope after a good night's rest, she will get better.

Where did she learn that?

This has happened a few times for the past few days: whenever Yi Han sees either Mummy or myself around AND we are not looking at her, she will FAKE a cough. She will stop "coughing" once we look at her. Man...just where do babies learn such things from?

Rei Qi's 2nd Birthday

Wednesday 15 Feb was Rei Qi's 2nd birthday. She woke up early and immediately started chanting 'papa mama bring Rei Qi to MacDonalds' 'go beach' 'see airplane'. Well, with such specific requests, the whole famiily just upped and set off to MacDonalds East Coast.

This was also the first time Yi Han visited Macs. She got to sit in the baby chair and play with our breakfast stuff and see the sea and beach. Most amazingly, she didn't fuss, didn't cry and was actively looking around and reaching out. I think she quite enjoyed it. It's indeed quite something for me to see that my no. 2 has grown up enough to start enjoying outings.

The birthday girl had about half a hash brown, drank a lot of ice Milo ("maaii-o" she says) and played signals with two pink balloons. When we set out to the beach, she jumped around and asked for music from daddy's handphone. Then she jived to the beat of 'Where is the love' with her signature RQ dance moves (chicken wings flapping style with nifty footwork).

We didn't realize that she was actually on silent lookout for airplanes till in the middle of her dance, she suddenly pointed to the horizon and said 'airplane' sharply. Then somehow, the day seemed more complete with all her birthday wishes fulfilled. We went home shortly after that.

Then the silly girl went to her room, stuck her finger into her mouth (bad habit) a bit too deep and promptly threw up all over her new clean bedsheets. Sigh.....

RQ's birthday party

Celebrated RQ's 2nd birthday last Friday. It was a small family affair, with just our immediate families. Even so, Cheeky Mummy went through the whole works and got party packs & water pistols for all the kids (grand total of 3) at the party. It is amazing the joy that some noisy plastic pieces and water sprays can elicit from young kids.

RQ specifically asked for a mermaid cake (the idea was probably planted by one of the bedtime story books that she was reading nowadays). Exotic as the request is, Cheeky Mommy got her request fulfilled with a cake from Jack's Place. Nothing fantastic like the Disney character but hey, there WAS a mermaid.

She received a nice Disney cooking set from Uncle Teck How and had been cooking up a storm for the past few days. Daddy just hope that she can squeeze in as much play as she can before being thrown into the pressure cooker known as the Singapore Education System.

Chinese New Year

It has been a fabulous Chinese New Year. Call me "cheena" but CNY just stirs up a lot more feelings in me compared to X'mas. Finally get a chance to catch up with close friends and relatives. With our busy lives, CNY represents the one and only chance in a year to talk that little bit more.

It is little Yi Han's first CNY and she is quite a hit. Got a lot to do with her "fleshiness" and cheerful disposition. Rei Qi, on the other hand, impresses with her endless chatter, even though we do have to do quite a bit of "translation".

More importantly, Daddy gets to see the little cheekies at times of the day when he is usually hard at work. For Mommy, she has a fun time dolling her little ones up in really nice festive clothes. Photos will be uploaded in Flickr pretty soon.
